ABOUT ME
A few things I love; tea, lots and lots of tea, dark chocolate, ginger, wool socks, swims in the ocean, climbing trees, jigsaw puzzles, cooking food, eating food, reading about food (I really, really love food), sunshine, autumn leaves, rain, long chats with dear friends, sitting around the fire, geeking out on freebirth stories, dancing…
I think it was during the craziness of 2020 that I was propelled into the world of pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I was studying nursing and finding it rather dry and intensive. My attention was easily distracted listening to and reading about birthing and postpartum. I loved the idea of supporting women in postpartum and felt a real calling but thought maybe … one day …
Mandates happened so I left my studies, then my job, then a relationship. I felt so free and empowered taking my life into my own hands. I completed an online course to be a Postpartum Doula but still wasn’t convinced I had what it takes. I continued listening and reading more and more about birth and found wild pregnancy and freebirth and WOW. I was blown away at countless women taking radical responsibility of their bodies and babies. It lit something up deep inside me and I continued to be awed at the profoundness and the simplicity of birth.
I’ve spent some time looking at myself, healing those parts that needed it, saying goodbye to bad habits (alcohol and caffeine), diving into my childhood and unpacking the pieces of me. I have regular elderly and disability clients that I visit as a support worker and have discovered a love of Irish Dancing and pilates which keep me active.
